We at Rick S. Vourganas CPA take pride in our neighborhoods and love our neighbors. While we enjoy keeping our readers up on the latest tax and IRS news we also want to keep our neighbors safe. Here is some info about the upcoming weather and how to stay safe.
As an arctic front moves toward Greater Houston, temperatures will drop below 25 degrees on Thursday night and stay there until Sunday (Dec. 22-25). When strong winds and low temperatures come together, the wind chill index will be dangerously low. Now is the time to get ready at home and at work for the coming cold weather, keeping in mind “the four P’s”:

People: Keep your family warm, and check on any elderly relatives or neighbors who may need extra blankets, help winterizing their homes, or a warm place to stay.

Pets: Dogs, cats, and other animals should come inside.

Plants: Either cover them or bring them inside to keep them warm.

Pipes: Cover pipes that are out in the open so they don’t freeze and break.

Keep an eye on things.
As the weather changes, listen to advisories and notice when roads are closed. Visit the Houston Transtar website, which will help you figure out how to get to work. It has the latest information on road closures and changes in traffic.
